The Room
“…Then we came upon this magical spot in Sparkill… It was love at first sight. I knew this was the venue where our vision was simply going to spring to life…”
Michael Gross
The dining room, with its candlelight glow, is the perfect spot for the enjoyment of superb food and great conversation. From one-of-a-kind lights handcrafted by Khader Humied, the architect who designed Relish, light cascades onto the ochre-toned walls (the color: “gleam”!) and subtly illuminates the tables, covered with an unusual assortment of colorful tablecloths. Built-in, cushioned banquettes span much of the room, which is at once dynamic and mellow.
Michael, fascinated with the history of the place, and in a true design partnership with Khader, was intent upon recycling and re-using many of the existing building materials. Thus, the polished mahogany detailing, and the restored original wood ceiling, a dramatic 14-foot-high. The room is at once spacious, with the wide-open air of a Greenwich Village restaurant’s courtyard garden, and intimate, each spot with its own private, romantic feel.
