Michael Gross Michael Gross and staff bring a special philosophy to ReLish. Their vision is of the best food, the kind you’d normally have to pay much, much more to enjoy, prepared from the finest, freshest seasonal ingredients, with the focus on local resources, paired with a careful selection of wines and friendly and knowledgeable service. Their vision for the room: an art-filled space high on elegance but low on frills, where close attention to detail, from the perfect warmth of color and light, to the music, results in a casual atmosphere to surround and enhance George’s exceptional cuisine. Their mission is to create a fine, yet informal venue that feels relaxed yet vibrant and always new. Michael began his career as an apprentice to master chef Hiroshi Hayashi of the Seventh Inn in Boston. He went on to become the chef at Sanae, on Boston’s famed Newberry Street and later at the landmark Spring Street Natural Restaurant in Soho. In 1983 Michael with two partners, John Quimby and Anastasia Cretekos, opened the New Prospect Café in Brooklyn's Prospect Heights and followed in 1986 with the New Prospect at Home in Park Slope and the New Prospect Catering Company. After managing the growth of the cafe and retail operations, in 1993, he moved solely to being director of the New Prospect Catering Company created to keep up with the ever-growing demand for their food. In 2002, after relocating to Rockland County in 2000, he discovered 4 Depot Square. It was love at first sight; he knew this was the location where his vision would spring to life...and time has proven that his instinct was right. Michael and staff bring the dedication, joy and passion that have fueled their fruitful careers now to ReLish, their newest venture to date. |
